WE CAN, the organization dedicated to empowering Cape Cod women to achieve lasting positive change for themselves and their families, was the beneficiary of a Midsummer Soiree, August 2nd, an event conceived by Chatham residents Aaron Polhemus and Kim Amsden and executed by Kim and her committee of friends all with ties to the Chatham area.
Held at the Wequasset Resort and Golf Club, guests enjoyed the perfect summer evening, comradery, musical entertainment and a presentation and auction to benefit WE CAN.
Committee Chair Amsden remarked, “A number of committee members had been supporting WE CAN in the planning of a yacht club luncheon to benefit the organization. The group decided that it was time to take a step back and think about planning an event to support WE CAN that involved the greater community. Planning took place over the course of about six months, with the result being a wonderful summer event, which exceeded our fundraising goal.” Amsden concluded, “The success of the evening is a true reflection of the faith the community has placed in the incredible difference WE CAN is making in the lives of women on the Cape.”
Dianne Gauthier, Executive Director of WE CAN, was enthusiastic about Amsden’s group. “They were able to take their passion for helping women in transition and combined it with their ‘Midsummer’ concept, resulting in a lot of new awareness for WE CAN and funds to help us achieve our mission of supporting women in transition.
