Organization Grateful for Funding from Women’s Foundation of Boston

WE CAN is proud to announce the launch of EMPower, a new Economic Mobility Coaching program designed to support Cape Cod women in achieving financial independence and long-term stability. This initiative represents a bold new step in WE CAN’s mission to walk beside women as they navigate life’s challenges and opportunities.
Based on the nationally recognized EMPath (Economic Mobility Pathways) model, EMPower is being brought to Cape Cod for the first time through WE CAN’s customized implementation. The program is launching with generous funding from the Women’s Foundation of Massachusetts, whose mission is to economically empower women and girls in Greater Boston and across the Commonwealth through creating and funding high-impact leadership and economic programs.
“We are thrilled to bring this proven model of support to Cape Cod,” said Lisa Guyon, Executive Director of WE CAN. “The EMPower program will give women the tools, resources, and personalized guidance they need to define and reach their goals — and ultimately to thrive.”
In this pilot year, which runs through summer 2026, a small cohort of participants — recruited
internally — will work one-on-one with a dedicated Economic Mobility Coach and Case
Manager to develop and pursue goals across EMPath’s core “Bridge to Self-Sufficiency®” pillars:
Family Stability
Well-being
Financial Management
Education and Training
Employment and Career
Staff member Daisy Calla-Huerta oversees the EMPower program, supporting its implementation at WE CAN. She and Beth Bowman, Program Director, have been working closely with EMPath over the past year to bring this impactful model to life in a way that is responsive to the unique needs of Cape Cod women.
“This program is about more than financial literacy or career coaching,” said Daisy. “It’s about creating sustainable, individualized pathways toward economic mobility and doing it with compassion, encouragement, and the right tools at the right time.”
The EMPower initiative builds on WE CAN’s two decades of experience providing critical,
community-rooted support for women across the Cape. By embedding this nationally validated model into their programming, WE CAN is investing in long-term outcomes for individuals and the broader community.
