WE CAN gratefully accepts gifts of appreciated securities—such as stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. Donating securities may help you avoid capital gains taxes while making a bigger impact: WE CAN receives the full market value of your gift, and you may receive a charitable tax deduction for that same amount.
Donor Advised Funds
A Donor Advised Fund, or DAF, is a philanthropic vehicle through which donors may contribute to their favorite charities. Contributions to a DAF are immediately tax-deductible, and are invested and grow tax-free. After establishing a DAF, you may recommend grants to the charities of your choice at any point.
IRA Charitable Distribution (QCD)
If you are age 70½ or older, you may be able to make a charitable gift directly from your IRA to WE CAN. A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) allows you to support our mission while potentially reducing your taxable income and, after the age of 73, can satisfy all or part of your required minimum distribution (RMD). This type of gift can be a meaningful way to align your charitable goals with your financial planning.

Starting in 2026, the new universal charitable deduction for non-itemizers allows taxpayers who take the standard deduction to deduct up to $1,000 in charitable contributions (or $2,000 for married couples filing jointly).

Matching Gifts
Many companes sponsor matching gifts programs that increase the charitable contribution made by an employee. Ask your human resources office for matching gift forms.
