Welcome Beth Bowman

Beth is the newest member of our team, and we were thrilled to have her join us as WE CAN’s Assistant Director in October.

In this newly established role, Beth will lead program development, delivery, and evaluation and play an important role in team management and development. Beth will also manage WE CAN’s collaborative relationships and direct team outreach efforts with strategic non-profit partners, regional health and human service coalitions, and civic and business organizations.

Beth is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) who spent over twenty years working with children and families. She has held numerous leadership positions; most notably as Assistant Commissioner for Performance Management and Accountability at the NJ Department of Children and Families. Beth has experience working with women in a variety of settings as they struggle through substance use, receive child welfare services, or as they transition through other challenges in their lives. She likes to approach her work with empathy and respect in a strengths-based and nonjudgmental manner.

Beth experienced her own transition when she moved to Cape Cod in 2015 with her husband, Kevin, and their son. In 2016, she began working at the Cape and Islands United Way as their first Director of Community Impact. Beth held this position for four years and managed the community engagement and grant-making processes for the organization.

About working at WE CAN, Beth says, “I was already aware that, to the outside world, WE CAN had a great reputation. When I got here, I realized that it was just as good from the inside as it appears on the outside. The people I get to work with are genuinely caring – about each other, about WE CAN as an organization, about volunteers, and especially about our participants and the things that happen to women. Everyone, including the volunteers who show up with a smile on their faces, are here for all the right reasons: they just want to see women thrive in their community. It feels so good to be part of this organization.”

And we feel the same way about working with Beth!
